Pemulihan Ekonomi Global Yang Terhenti Mendukung Peningkatan Persediaan Minyak

  • Pedagang minyak utama memesan fasilitas penyimpanan lepas pantai karena pemulihan ekonomi global terhenti. 
  • Fasilitas darat tetap mendekati kapasitas karena permintaan yang lemah. 

Pedagang minyak besar seperti Trafigura, Vitol, Litasco, dan Glencore kembali memesan kapal tanker untuk menyimpan jutaan barel minyak mentah dan bahan bakar sulingan di laut dengan pemulihan ekonomi global dari pandemi virus Corona yang menunjukkan tanda-tanda kemacetan. 

Rumah dagang Trafigura telah mencarter setidaknya lima dari apa yang disebut pengangkut minyak mentah sangat besar (VLCC), masing-masing mampu menyimpan 2 juta barel minyak, menurut sumber perdagangan dan data pengiriman.

Menurut Reuters, pedagang memilih fasilitas penyimpanan lepas pantai, karena penyimpanan di darat tetap mendekati kapasitas karena permintaan yang lemah, menurut artikel Reuters. 

Fasilitas penyimpanan lepas pantai diisi pada bulan April karena pembatasan penguncian virus Corona yang diberlakukan di seluruh dunia membuat aktivitas ekonomi terhenti. 

Dengan demikian, harga minyak merosot di bulan April dengan kontrak berjangka West Texas Intermediate (WTI) bulan depan jatuh ke setidaknya $ 30 di bawah nol. 

Pada saat ini, WTI diperdagangkan di $ 37,80, setelah mencapai puncaknya di $ 43,75 pada bulan Agustus.
